Greene County Beekeepers Association members are hobbyists or full-time beekeepers who are dedicated to the care and future of honeybees in and around Greene County, Ohio. Some of our members are just getting started as beekeepers, and some have enjoyed their apiaries for decades! All share an interest in the wonderful and remarkable world of apis mellifera. Our goal is to promote the world of honeybees and apicultural activities. We invite anyone interested in learning more about bees and beekeeping to come to our next meeting or event and join our organization.
If you have any questions, or just want more information, please contact GCBA.
Out of an abundance of caution and in deference to community officials, the GCBA board has decided to move our meetings to the Zoom platform until we can safely meet in person. Our July “plus” meeting is with Erin MacGregor Forbes. Based on her experience overwintering colonies of all sizes in New England, Erin will discuss the special considerations for bringing smaller colonies (and full-size hives) through the winter, including the differences between a spring nuc and one ready to weather the challenges of winter.
Dr. Jamie Ellis will be our guest speaker during regularly scheduled Zoom meeting on July 21. He will be discussing Honey Bee Biology.
We will be sending out seasonal beekeeping information emails and organizing Zoom meetings for our members in order to help everyone with their spring beekeeping activities.
